Room 239; Saturday Afternoon [03/23].
Graham was seated on his bed, legs folded in front of him, with a small stack of mail that he was sorting through with eagerness and anticipation. Let's see...credit card ad, credit card ad, local business flyer, credit card ad..."Oooh! Coupon for 10% off new tires!" Why that made it into one of the pockets of his cloak was anyone's guess, but there it went and he went sorting through all the various bits and pieces of spam and advertisements that had somehow landed in his mail, when, finally...
He gasped.
"It's here!" he declared triumphantly, eyes wide and bright and shining as he held up an old-timey looking envelop with a very official seal on it, hardly able to believe he was witnessing it, that he was holding it in his hands, finally! "They finally responded to my Tournament Application!"
He wasted no more time in tearing the envelop open, pulling out the letter, ooh-ing and aaah-ing at the very nice parchment, and then unfolded it to read.
"Dear Graham Cra--" His voice dipped down into a murmur as he continued to read through some of the very lengthly preamble and specifications he needed to wade through to get to the good stuff, "...blah blah blah....Section 5-2, b-4....Addendum 847d....we, the Royal Knights of Daventry," you could tell the good stuff was coming because he leaned forward eager, his voice picking up with excitement and fervor, "do officially accept your application to participate in the somewhat-annual Tournament of Knights!! Be there Monday, May 6th, date subject to change, where we will commence the festivities with the Parade of Knight Hopefuls, and--"
Graham had inched slowly forward more and more with each word, leaning eagerly into it, until, somehow, he'd leaned far enough to go tumbling off his bed, in an honestly impressive flip for how close to the floor it was, landing him neatly on his bottom, legs splayed, but with his hand still gripping the paper. He shook his head a little from the surprise impact, quickly raced his eyes over the rest of the official decree until he couldn't contain his thrill anymore, took a moment to hug the letter to his chest, and then pumped a fist in the air!
"I did it! I really did it! I'm an official Knight Hopeful! Monday! May 6th! Daventry, here I come!"
He was going to get up and start telling everyone the good news soon, but for now? He honestly just had to keep looking over the letter and reading it over and over and over again in disbelief that this was real, that this was actually happening, in just a few months, he might actually be a knight!
If he wasn't careful, he might just pass out from excitement before he even got a chance to tell even his roommate!

handwavilytext him. Like today!Funny how things worked out sometimes, yeah?
So I stood up to a flamingo and now I'm getting ice cream about it. Wanna join me?
See? It was a big day for everyone! Sure, one person was seeing their long-time goal realized and the other person had managed to stand up to a bird, but all victories were good victories, okay?
no subject
DO I EVER!!!
Yes, sometimes you just needed to text in all caps!
I've got some pretty big news, too! Maybe not as big as showing a flamingo what's what, but still pretty big! I'll tell you about it when i get there!!!
That may have seemed like the last of Graham's messages, but there was a brief blip in time, when Graham picked himself up and dusted himself off that he felt he needed to correct himself, and he added:
okay maybe it's actually bigger than standing up to a flamingo, but that is also very important and impressive and you have to tell me more!!
no subject
Well you can't just tell me that and then NOT tell me till we meet up for ice cream! Which means I guess I gotta guess because you DO have to tell me in person.
So....guess number one: Triumph won the award for Island's Handsomest Capybara?
Was she prepared to keep offering outrageous guesses until they met up?
Yep.
no subject
"Ha!" he said, and quickly responded back.
fifth year running!
Forget the fact that they hadn't even been around the island that long! Triumph was handsome enough to earn it retroactively!
No contest at all! And that goes without saying! But no. Sorry! That is not the good news!
no subject
Ah. Not so easy to guess, huh? Hmm. An unknown number contacted you and it WASN'T about your car's extended warranty?
If that were true, tell her your secrets, Graham.

And stopping, because texting and walking was not a natural thing for him, and was a good way for him to just end up tumbling down the stairs and needing to take that ice cream in the clinic.
no, but I do have a 10% off coupon for new tires!
A few steps later, he realized he should add:
that is also not the good news. I mean, it is good! But not the good,BIG news..
no subject
Okay, actually, given Graham, that was a possible contender. Though she didn't think JGoB cared that little for their bottom line, but stranger things had happened, especially on this island...

And don't you dare think that ice cream would put a damper on all that he could eat, either!

because someone just did NOT have brain for classes these days ooooooofor was just not at all worried about it because he could do that easily enough or just claim Triumph did it.well if you're springing for dinner
Because, yes, he had no doubt in his mind that it was big enough for that!
then I'll jump for ice cream!
And not even because then she had her easy way to complete the homework! Because, yeah, no, he absolutely had forgotten entirely about it. It just seemed like the right thing to do! Especially if Arden stood up to a flamingo!
no subject
Deal!! But if it's DINNER big, then clearly...one of those indie game designers is gonna come and make a board game about your life!
Don't be ridiculous, Arden, he was from a video game franchise!no subject
Yes, Graham had to also type it like that!
and they can promote it as This is Based on a Guy Who Used to Work Here!
no subject
As was normal for board games.
